Halo, Sports Fans – it’s that wonderful time of year again!

June 16th, 2011 by CrispRoot

US Baseball Fans - Sports EventsWow.  What a great time to be a sports fan.
First off, how about the NBA Finals that just wrapped up?  The Heat thought it was a done deal when they went up two games to one, in fact, so did a lot of the “experts” on all the sports channels.  But, what came next was like what Gomer Pyle used to always say to Sgt. Carter…  Surprise, Surprise, Surprise!  So, where’d you sit on this one – bummed that the Heat couldn’t deliver the cornerstone of their hoped-for dynasty, or thrilled that the Mavs put the potential dynasty on hold for at least another year?

Alright, so now let’s talk puck.  Another great season on the ice just concluded, and just like in the NBA, the team with the best regular season record got to the finals, but it was the underdog who won it all – Let the celebration in Boston continue, they earned this party!

OK, enough with the post-season recaps, let’s move on to what’s next.  It’s U.S. Open time! Tiger’s not there this year, but the next wave of young guns are – so there ought to be plenty of lead changes and red numbers posted on the leaderboard.  Plus, as any golf fan knows, it’s the US Open…so there’s always the question, will Lefty finally win this thing, or have yet another of his epic meltdowns?  Tune in all weekend to find out – and while you’re watching one of the pros wow the gallery with a dazzling chip onto the green, you can wow your taste buds by sinking your teeth into a bag of CrispRoot Thai Ginger Cassava Root Chips.

So, what else happens in the sports world in June?  Well, as usual this time of year, baseball is plowing through its regular season like a teenager devouring a bag of chips (please insert the name of your favorite CrispRoot flavor here…  Original, Sea Salt, BBQ, or the aforementioned Thai Ginger!). It looks like Boston and the Yankees are going to be going at it all season long, as usual.  But, the other five divisions are solidly up for grabs – it’s anybody’s ballgame, to coin a phrase.  Will the pitching in Philly be enough to offset a total lack of offense?  Will the Brewers finally make that post season run that’s been rumored to be just around the corner for how many years now?  And who will end up owning the Dodgers…  Frank McCourt?  Jamie McCourt?  Orel Hershiser and Steve Garvey?  Maybe even Mark Cuban?(!)  Hey… why don’t y’all weigh in on this  one –  post a comment and let us know who you think will be the Dodgers owner on Opening Day 2012.

Even the NFL looks like it’s soon going to be back on the field soon – bet you didn’t think that was going to happen, did ya’?  It’s going to be an interesting couple of months once they dot the I’s and cross the T’s on that new deal – free agents are going to be flying around like John Daly tee shots, and training camps are going to be busier than the ice cream truck guy on a 105 degree day.

Yup – no doubt about it, it’s a great time to be a sports fan! And whether you just finished playing a game yourself, or are pulling up a chair to watch all the action in air conditioned comfort… why don’t you grab a nice cold drink, pull open a bag of your favorite CrispRoot Cassava Chips, and let the fun of summer roll on!
